Digi awards

In Rimu class we all have been doing our digi awards. For my Digi award I and my friends made our own
video. Our video was about making more smoke free zones
and encouraging  people to stop smoking.
What I thought that was challenging was trying to get perfect angles, we could not find a very good angle so we moved the camera as we went.

Why America should upgrade their security

In the last six weeks Rimu was working on how to write and create persuasive speeches, There was no specific topic to write about so I chose to write about Why the U.S.A should upgrade their security. I see a lot of CNN so I think a lot about the USA and the bad things that are happening.
I hope you like it!

Here is my speech, for why United States Of America should upgrade their Security.
What I did really well is speak clearly. What I should work on is looking at the audience and not looking at the cards. Here are the three things I was trying to work on:

Speaking at an appropriate pace.

Getting the Audience hooked in.

Eye contact with the Audience.

How do you think I went?

My science teacher would always make science fun and exciting but, she acted strange she would always do these strange dances. She was being really funny in class, I was laughing when she was doing the worm but still it was really strange. I asked a friend of mine about the science teacher, my classmate
Was laughing so did I when I told her that she did the worm. My classmate asked how? But I said, But how would I know I asked, though I didn’t really know.

My Rock climbing Recount

On the 20th of June Rimu class who were year 7&8 went rock climbing for our second William Pike outdoor Challenge in the  Port Hills located in Christchurch, New Zealand. It was on  the top of Summit road and it was called Cattlestop Crag. Thanks to the parents we got to have this experience, the parents had a little race to the top.

JPEG ImageWhen we reached the top, my friend Zac was so scared he would never look down at the misty clouds below us. We meet our instructors Josh and Steven.  They talked to us about the two values we were focusing on: Pride and Resilience. It was important to have go to overcome some of our fears and then we would be pride if we got to the top. Also I think if you stay in your comfort zone for too long you will never be able to move out and become more comfortable with the outdoors

Steven did the abseiling while Josh did the climbing
I went with Steven to the abseiling it was a really steep cliff. I was 1st to go up it looked like suicide,
But I trusted the rope with my life I slowly took a large breath and slowly walked down the cliff.
I could hear the people cheering my name as I came down when felt my feet touch the ground I was proud of what I did.

When we were walking back to our caregivers to take us back to school I was Proud of myself and other people who overcome their fears. So, Zac finally overcome his fear of large heights.

100wc My old Cell

My old Cell

After I, stole the jewels from london tower I was taken to Prison in the USA of the coast of San Francisco. I was suppose to go to a prison of the outskirts of scotland in scotland yard. But they flew me to America and took me to this island. My prison cell was in no good state, I wish I could just go and be free. So I had a plan, I’ll get on phone call to my crew that helped robbed the bank that escaped. They broke the ceiling, and the plan had worked they lowered the zip line and i got on and away, I went.

100wc Stairway to heaven

Here is my 100 Word Challenge. This is a writing competition we enter each week and get feedback from teachers and students from all over the world. I was trying to include a metaphor - can you find it? Rimu
students have been doing the 100 Word Challenge this week we are looking forward for it next week.

I was walking home from school, My friend Isaac left home the other way near the town hall. On the way home the sun shined really bright, I was blinded by the light of the sun. I ran home as fast as I can, as the sun shines brighter then a star.

I scattered home for shelter away from the sun, Then Suddenly a large BOOM! striked my house. My mom was screaming with fear so as my sister, but then the light blew out all of the thunder in one shot. That when i saw a stairway to heaven.

Rimu surfing at Sumner Beach!!!!!!

On Monday 25th March me and my class of year 7 and 8 went to Sumner  beach. The reason why went to the beach is because we were surfing for the William Pike challnge. We borrowed wetsuits from our coaches and went to the grass outside and practised how surfing would be in real life.

Here is a video how I surferd.
Here is a poem also.

I can taste the salty waves as they fall into my mouth like a tree drinking water.

I can feel the force of the salty waves hitting me every minute I walk.

I can see the waves falling down on to me like a tsunami,

I can smell the salty wave coming in to my nose like i'm sniffing very tasty food

The night with William Pike

On Tuesday the hole of rimu class was in the kitchen. We were playing, chatting and laughing, until man named William pike was standing in the hallway all of the boys and girls looked out the door. Then we were called to come and put your dishes on the table, so we did. My dad finally arrived, with the rest of my family. Then it was time to eat so me and Jesse stood by the table because we baked banana cake with strawberry icing. My mother and father took a piece of cake and said it was delicious, while they were coming there were other tables with tomato soup and etc.

After we had dinner we all had to go to the Wharehui and meet William pike. Once the parents and rimu got comfortable William pike started to talk about his story. He talked about him climbing Mt Ruapehu and introducing his mate he met in university. I was amazed about his story.

In conclusion William pike told me community service and his website we you would do community service work or doing a hobbie you like. He also told us about overcoming his fears and keeping confident every day.
He told us to keep healthy and proud and never be scared.

Point-of-view essay

our writing task was to write a short essay about a book called Wonder. We had to find quotes from the book or texts to back up our thoughts about this book.

Example 1: I think its first person because it said
“I have lots of classes”, when he was at his new school.
Example 2:I think it’s in first person because “I did not  say anything”, is related to the book “Wonder”.

Example 3:I think it’s in first person because in the beginning of the book wonder, he said

In conclusion, These were all of the quotes and text that backed up my theory
